about the

cause

Damon Ramaker started the Deep Root Kennel in 2016 with the dream of racing an Alaskan Husky Sled Dog team in the 2020 Iditarod. Damon has dedicated himself for the last 4 years to grow his kennel, train, race and qualified for the Iditarod this coming year.

Out of this dream has grown a larger desire of sharing this experience and teach about the skills it has taken to accomplish such an extensive goal.  Without these skills, team of dogs, supporters, mentor, family and community he could not have accomplished this dream.  The Deep Root Cause was founded in 2018 as a 501(c) non profit organization.

Damon presents at many schools, youth and community organizations and businesses about his sled dog team and his pursuit of running the 2020 Iditarod Sled Dog Race.  Deep Root Cause participants have shared in hands on demonstrations and rides at the Deep Root Kennel.

However, this is only the first step in the Deep Root Cause. We have deep plans for where this dream is growing. We will be working with an organization this fall/winter to build a sled for our physically challenged participants.  Also we are starting to work with local non profits to give rides to our physically and mentally disabled participants. We also desire to team with our local mental health providers in canine therapy and workshop intensives to help those who are struggling with their mental health.

As the dream grows, so does the team and needs for the Deep Root Cause.  Please see how you can support the CAUSE

The Deep Root is a non-profit, 501(c) organization.
